Carolina Sporting & Security was founded in 2014 in Smithfield, North Carolina, by Chris Johnson, a dedicated entrepreneur, ardent Second Amendment advocate, and enthusiast of high-quality defensive firearms. Recognizing that local retailers primarily catered to hunters, leaving limited options for those focused on personal protection or competitive shooting, Chris envisioned a premier destination offering a diverse selection of modern firearms and accessories. His goal was to create a shop staffed by experts committed to delivering exceptional customer service and competitive pricing.
To bring this vision to life, Chris assembled a team of combat veterans, competitive shooters, and law enforcement officers, ensuring unparalleled expertise and dedication. Since its inception, Carolina Sporting & Security has navigated many changes, including market shifts, technological advancements, supply challenges and the unfortunate passing of our founder, Chris, in 2024. Through the tenacity of our employees, we proudly continue today as an employee- and veteran-owned business.

Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the products they are selling. They hold their customers in high esteem and go out of the way to sell quality products. Would recommend them to anyone looking to make their first firearm purchase , or anyone looking for more information about firearms they are interested in. My first time in the store the gentleman behind the counter educated me for the better part of 45 minutes on the ar platform and the differences between the rifles and pistols even down to different caliber ballistics. Left the shop to shop around and came back to purchase from them based on their reasonable price points, solid product knowledge and gold bar customer service. Excellent customer atmosphere as well

Renowned for his extensive knowledge of firearms, Isaiah’s leadership, integrity, and personable nature quickly made him a cornerstone of the business. Passionate about educating customers, he is celebrated for his honesty and approachable demeanor while ensuring every client receives tailored guidance. In 2024, Isaiah became the majority owner of Carolina Sporting & Security, continuing to uphold its commitment to excellence, quality service, and community engagement.

Anthony Potochniak joined Carolina Sporting & Security in Smithfield, NC, in 2021 as Assistant Manager following a distinguished career in the U.S. Army. A knowledgeable firearms enthusiast and ardent Second Amendment advocate, Anthony brings a deep commitment to exceptional customer service and a passion for staying ahead of market trends through continuous learning and research. His dedication, professionalism, and customer-focused approach earned him a promotion to Managing Partner in 2024.
